A Fresh Look to the Past

Cary Grant Tortoise shell glasses
Cary Grant in North by Northwest (C) MGM

Glasses… by far the most popular of all accessories; well they’re at least the most prominent. Who doesn’t like glasses? Be it shades or spectacles, the classics are making a comeback.
Smooth talkers like Cary Grant wore the turtle shelled, the FBI wore the horn rimmed, and geniuses like Le Cobusier wore that eccentric pair. So what’s “in”? Get ready to start digging through Grandpa’s collection and you just might be able to find some hidden treasures. Let’s just hope that they’re not as moth eaten like his double breasted suits.
These glasses are more than classics, they’re timeless.

Check out this pair by Oliver Peoples.

Here’s Johnny Depp sporting a similar pair.

The Mad Men Suit

Who doesn't like the austere sincerity of the truly luxurious or dim shimmer of the classic Grey Suit? Popularized and better sported by the handsome Jon Hamm (Don Draper) of AMC's Mad Men, the Grey Suit is making a comeback among today's businessmen.

The color and fabric shows the nature of the man behind the suit. The cold and calculating businessman, the man who's in charge of his affairs, the one who's in control of his future. That is the true image of the power suit, and it is indestructble.

Take note of the thin lapels and the equally thin tie. It seems to prove that the man makes thes suit, not the othe way around. Pleats on the pants and cuffs are tacky and are an unecessary accessory. The motto of modern minamlism, Less is More applies to the suit. Stop hiding behind all the accessories, and showcase your best and most influential accessory, YOU!

Also take note of its simplicity and austerity that seems to go beyond obvious luxury. Don't forget the simply folded white pocket square.
